This was a surprisingly not sexy take on several alien romance tropes. What really struck me is the number of times I thought to myself "did a woman really write this?" Now I can generally peg when I am looking at "women written by men," and when I am reading "women written by women who happily gatekeep for men," but this felt like a new flavor. Discovering that it is written by a husband-wife team answered all my questions. Tiffany Roberts had come recommended by the Bonkers Romance podcast (I think the first episode was one of their books), but for me it fell flat. Given the other reviews, I am just going to say "not my yum" and carry on.
