I am loving this series and while this one was my least favorite so far, it was still great. The only reason it didn't get my usual Deal With a Demon five stars was the way it skirts very close on my "I hate when banter/conflict is just mean-spirited immaturity" pet-peeve. Otherwise it nails the premises of "marriage of necessity," "enemies to lovers" and good old-fashioned monster-f*cking perfectly. I can overlook Grace as not my favorite FMC for the overall world building and grade-A spice.

This was not Robert's strongest work in this series (or pair of series), but as a quick read I liked it.
The combination of non-binary demon, powerful FMC and sexy consent makes for delightful spice. As a novella in the Bonkers Romance/Peculiar Tastes/Nigh Market world, it does just what is needed. As a novella in the Deal With a Demon series it provides some fun insight into the life of a character that threads through all the other novels.
Some of it felt a little too "telling, not showing" with the exposition being a bit much. Robert generally does so well with the subtlety of her prose that this felt out of style. (Of course, I have not read any other Night Market books yet, so perhaps this is just a diversion from the Deal With a Demon style.)
Overall though, I am going to read and enjoy anything Katee Robert writes, and this was no exception.
