Needed in Garoureve by Elle M. Drew
Rating: ✩✩✩✩✩
This is the second book in the Shifters of Garoureve series (see the review of book one here), and like the first book, it was a fun read that is exactly as advertised. This series relies heavily on the “fated mates'' trope to get us right to the…um…action. The mythos of a magical town that independently directs the lives of its inhabitants hand-waves away so many logistical issues. Plot wise, character development wise, these books take a lot of shortcuts, however, as Ms. Drew so succinctly points out on her TikTok “fat girls getting railed” is 100% an acceptable premise for pretty much everything.

Finding You by Daphne Elliot
Rating: ✩✩✩✩✩
This second book in the Quinn Brothers Series (book one review is here), gets another three stars and the decision to not continue with this series. There was nothing wrong with the book, it just wasn't amazing. As a fun steamy romance that doesn't get too bogged down in plot and the like, it is a great quick read. However, I found the contradiction of Astrid being presented as a bad-ass lawyer who is going to challenge the sexism of the world, and her archetypical “not like other girls, but still a girl cliche” behavior made it hard for me to find her interesting as a romantic lead. We get it, she eats ribs and doesn't wear makeup but is still thin and conventionally pretty. Eh, not for me.

Sometimes a series is just not right for you. Needed in Garoureve sure sounds like a fun book.
