The month kicked off with Sweetest in the Gale by Olivia Dade (of Spoiler Alert fame). This is the third book in the There's Something About Marysburg series and features three short stories from that world. I had read one of the stories previously, and the additional two did not disappoint. I have already requested the other two books in the series and cant wait to read more by Dade. ✩✩✩✩✩
In a return to historical romances, I jumped into the world of Maya Bank's Never Seduce a Scot. This was a pretty standard historical romance as these things go. I liked the book based on that alone, sometimes you want to read a genre because it is comfortable, you know? However, the books jumps to a better level because the protagonist is hearing impaired. This elevates the story by giving the romantic pairing something to work on outside of the (I will grant you) formulaic "warring clans" Scottish historical plot lines. Solid read, will be continuing the series. ✩✩✩✩✩
Kindle Unlimited brought me Evie Mitchell's Knot My Type the start of a series that centers around characters with disabilities and the protagonist's podcast All Access. This was a really good contemporary romance with a shallow dive into kink, rope play and accessibility issues therein. While it kicks off with a healthy dose of insta-love/lust, the plot progression is solid and the characters are well developed. I look forward to more in this series. ✩✩✩✩✩
Well Matched by Jen DeLuca had me back in the world of the Willow Creek Renaissance festival seeing what happens to fan favorite Mitch (of kilt fame!). Having read Well Played for NetGalley review and Well Met, I was Well Pleased to read more in this series. This contemporary plays on "friends to lovers," "fake relationship" and "older woman" tropes for delightful continuation in the world of Willow Creek. The whole series is a fantastic and I am already counting the days to the next book! ✩✩✩✩✩
For my final non-holiday-themed read of the month I devoured Only When Its Us by Chloe Liese in one sitting. Liese is a "must-read" author for me and having reviewed With You Forever and Always Only You and read Ever After Always in November, I was very excited to finish up the books in this series so far. All were amazing! ✩✩✩✩✩
That wraps up 2021. I will do a breakdown of what I read, what I loved and what I want to read in 2022 real soon!
Happy New Year!
