An Earl, His Valet, & Their Wife by Nicola Davidson

What delightful little tale of marriage of convenience turned happy throuple. I really like Davidson's novellas. Her use of the format gets us to the good stuff fast, but never feels rushed. A surprising amount of backstory, character growth and plot go into these stories even though they are fast reads. I liked this one much better than the first in the series that appeared in an anthology, though I would recommend almost anything by this author as a fun read.

Snowed In with a Dragon: A Cozy Holiday Monster Romance by Sara Ivy Hill

Look if anything from this book happened between two living breathing people, it would be a parade of red flags. Stalking? Playing fast and lose with STD awareness? Moving in together after one "date"? All of it is a nightmare.

However, as a monster/fantasy romance where the focus is insta-lust and fated mates? Bring it on, I am on 100% on board. The story is exactly as advertised and it is OK to enjoy some hot dragon shenanigans for fun on a long winter's night.

Monster Pucker by Clio Evans

This should have been a home run given the current strangle-hold that both hockey and monster romances currently have on many readers...but some of it fell flat.

Could have been kinky fun, but I didn't really feel the chemistry. Fated mates can only hand wave away so much character development. Any plot just felt superfluous, given that not a ton of it was well developed or unpredictable. The story ends with a quick bit of wrap-up that rushed all the conclusions to a perfect fix and that is that.

I think this could have done well as pure smut that skipped some of the "plot" or as a longer book that slow-burned the sex a little to flesh out the non-romance narratives. However, as a fun read for a cozy night in? Go for it. It delivers exactly what it promises.
