Beastly & Bookish by Catrina Bell

My Rating: ✩✩✩✩✩

I am very into low-stakes, cozy romances and this one hit the spot. It is exactly as advertised and is a quick read without feeling rushed. The story gives all the fun bits of insta-lust/love, but feels realistic (though we are reading monster holiday romances, suspend that disbelief baby!) because there is shared history. The romance is soft and comfy with enough drama to move the story along, but no manufactured crisis just to finish up the HEA. A second-chance romance with no animosity or tragic pasts is very refreshing. The only reason this was not a four star read was the characterization of the FMC as basically incompetent in her life. No one runs a place for that long and has no clue about anything related to rentals, funding, etc. The library in crisis plot could have happened without making Noell a functional toddler. Otherwise though, even though we are past the holidays here, I am scheduling in the remaining books in the collection for this weekend.
