Madame by Sara CateRating: ✩✩✩✩✩
Previously I had enjoyed that this series was just getting more unhinged and uninformed as it progressed, but this one was pretty underwhelming. I liked the idea of getting to see all the world from Eden's perspective. I went into it thinking that this would be her and Clay getting an HEA. (Did I not read the whole blurb? I don't even know.) The addition of Jade and the possibility of a FFM relationship held appeal, but the characters have no real depth and do not grow any as the story continues. When it all comes together it is emotionally stunted man breaks up with emotionally stunted woman who uses her child as a buffer from personal growth then parlays his naive, nearly personality-less current girlfriend into a bargaining chip for a throuple. Magically everyone is just fine at the end as a result of everyone acting out of character. Some "BDSM" allows the spice to hide the lack of plot or character development, but it wasn't enough to carry the story.
