Having not loved Secretly Yours (despite my general adoration for Tessa Bailey) this second in the series was absolutely what I want in a contemporary romance. Blending "enemies to lovers" and "fake relationships" into a very steamy romance felt like coming home to a Bailey classic. A slight ding for "just being immature and calling it banter," but the point of the characters is that they ARE immature when it comes to relationships and generally being adults outside of prescribed expectations. The book is tropey (she's a misunderstood rich princess, he's a gruff working class hero), but in all the right ways and the spice makes pretty much all the other books traits inconsequential. When it comes to writing sexy books, Bailey has it nailed...pardon the pun.
