I was so excited for the premise of this book, but it just fell flat for me at every turn.
As for our fair protagonist, she is a text-book "not like other" person. She eats cheeseburgers and dislikes other women (not like other girls!), doesn't flaunt her wealth (not like other nepo-babies!), insists on bringing her huge drooling dog everywhere (so quirky!) and runs a creepy shop (not like other quirky people, she is really quirky!). Yeah, we get it.
Add in a cast of equally tropey characters who leave little impression on the reader and a mystery that is solvable by the 50 page mark (well before you are handed the obvious answer on a platter) and it was almost a DNF for me. I kept reading since many described the book as having a twist, but I guess this one is also "not like other mysteries."
