Lillian Lark's entire Love Bathhouse/Monstrous Matches series has been a delight and this new addition is just that...delightful! If we are being honest, we come to these books because we like monster romance (and by this we mean monster smut, in 2023 we do not have have shame about this) and the way that Lark blends the spicy romance with a cozy atmosphere is remarkable. This one features relatable characters, some familiar faces, great "scenes" and conflicts that provide tension but not distress. Even with the required suspension of disbelief needed for paranormal romances, this felt like plausible character behavior and no one has to act majorly out of character for the resolution to work. Realistic HEAs (even among mythical creatures) are my favorite and Lark does it so well. A great way to start my 2023 reading year!
