NetGalley Review: Super Subversive Cross Stitch by Julie Jackson

Rating:  ✩✩✩✩✩

This book presented some cute projects, but overall I found it a bit underwhelming.  While I understand that this is a “sequel” so readers likely have basic cross stitch skills well in hand, the opening overview of techniques wasn't super beginner friendly.  Some of the instructions would have been hard to decipher if I didn't know the basics already.  That isn't necessarily a problem, assuming the reader knows this going in.

As for the projects, while the charts are very well done, the items themselves were a mix of really cheeky and sassy stuff alongside some phrases that just added the F-word to otherwise uninspired bon mots.  I love the F-word, but it doesn't make something clever on its own.

Altogether, this was an OK book.  There were enough projects that I liked that I am glad to have it in my library, but I am not sure I would recommend it out in the wild.
