For me this series can do no wrong. In fact, I loved it so much that when I recently got the full set from the library, I was three chapters in toThe Good Girl's Guide to Rakes before I realized I had read it and How the Wallflower was Won,so I read them both again. And was equally thrilled! Needless to say, this last one gives romance readers everything they want in a second chance historical.
The breakup of Willa and Dom is the premise for the whole series, so by the time we get to the little Scottish island, we can shortcut right to the groveling. The house party (one of my favorite historical settings) provides everything a reader needs including a secluded cabin, bed hopping, games, love triangles (rectangles? polygons?) and all the inclement weather needed to keep everyone trapped on the island and forced into that one lonely bed. Revenge dresses are worn, sexy hijinks abound and Willa doesn't take the first apology, Dom gets to really earn her back while they both learn that each is more than meets the eye. Drop in some light kink and a few "good girls"...Eva Leigh blends what could be a tropey cheese fest into a really hot novel. Could have lived without Dom's "deep tragic secret" (in general "not using your words" conflicts don't do it for me), but something had to jumpstart the plot so just skim that part.
All together a great book in a great series.
