This one was not as spicy as its series companions and felt rushed in comparison beyond being just a novella/short story. Now, I am loving the whole series and it is not as if I wouldn't recommend this one, but in all the great parts of this series it, nor its plot/characters, really stood out. However, I will say the sub-plot featuring the ball’s hostess has kept me intrigued and I can't wait to see how all these stories fit together over the course of 12 books.

Another mid-pack tale in this series. I liked the idea of being long-lost betrothed and that spin on the arranged marriage trope. However, the plot played out with a personal pet-peeve trope of mine: "this whole story could be three paragraphs if anyone explained anything like adults." The FMC cant seem to settle on a personality, which is a shame given the premise that she would be a pretty neat person. I mostly stuck with it/enjoyed it because it furthered the plot of the mystery surrounding the ball's hostess.

This was a solid premise, interesting mythos, a fun continuation of the series' central mystery and features a rare trope of "already married." The chemistry was pretty good, the spiciness will check the boxes for fellow monster-f*cker romance fans. My overwhelming criticism however is that this book feels like watching the two most clueless people figure out an overwhelmingly simple mystery at the slowest rate possible. I think the "he ran when cursed" plotline could have worked just fine without adding in the whole host of unnecessary angst caused by the murdered-fae plotline. There was plenty great romance material without having to address and resolve that sub-plot.

After a few in this series that missed the mark, I really liked this one. It was a fast read that hit all the high points of regency romps. There were definitely some plot issues (but this would really be, as said in the fanfic world, PWP) and the main human character couldn't really seem to settle on a personality, but it was still a great time. Evans provides exactly what a reader wants from a spicy, paranormal novella and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

When I say this book hit every trope perfectly I am promising a classic regency romance with a fun paranormal bend. Two damaged people come together, have insta-lust, get into a marriage of necessity that becomes more while seeking revenge on all that aimed to hurt them. Is the plot sometimes a little too convenient? Sure. Are the characters a little tropey? You bet. Is the "mystery" nothing of the sort? Absolutely. But, I still read this in one sitting and had a great time in the world of the Monster's Ball.
