Rating: ✩✩✩✩✩
As a devout fan of the monsterfucker genre, this series basically looks tailor made for me. With an opening book by genre royalty C.M. Nacosta, this one was exactly what I was hoping for.
The plot is exactly as advertised. The over-arching theme is that marriage prospects who have failed seasons are sent to the Monster's Ball to find non-traditional marriage opportunities. While society may frame this as a last ditch shame, I am sure I don't need to explain that our collection of misfits, wallflowers and society oddballs don't see it that way. Combining "need for marriage of convenience" and "teach me to be great in the sack" this HEA plays out just the way the reader would hope. The spice is spicy while the overall romance is oddly cozy. At a length that is a bit more than a novella we get to the good stuff fast and have a surprisingly believable character arc/conflict resolution given the supernatural premise.
The next in the series is already on my iPad and with 11 books coming in the series, this will be endless cozy reading fun.
