This book is exactly what's on the tin. A young widow promises herself to a beastly duke to pay off her father's debt and hilarity ensues. High on the spice level and having a touch of spy-style intrigue, this ode to "Beauty and the Beast" is a fun, saucy read. My only note is that the "uncultured Scot swears creatively" trope wears a little thin (it is not a replacement for character development). However, the colorful cast of supporting characters more than makes up for the Duke's flat arc and the HEA is great.
