Have you ever thought: “I would love to have my favorite fanfiction published in a book?” If so, this is just that! This short read creates a classic M/M “slow burn,” rich with historical details.Despite the short format, the characters are well developed and the wealth of research into period specific food, activities and clothing shows in each scene. While this attention to detail makes some exposition feel a bit unnecessary (while the chamber pot/privy details are very period accurate, they are not exactly page turning prose when romance is on the horizon), the author’s obvious pride in historical veracity always shines though. This books shines as an example of how many talented writers can take OC short fics and translate them well to more traditional publishing. As an avid reader of the fanfic genre, this is a very good thing. I will definitely be checking out this author’s other works.
